Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated: August 25, 2026
When you connect a Facebook Page or an Instagram professional account to Social Sync Agency, we store data from Meta in order to publish on your behalf and show you how those posts performed. This page explains exactly what we keep, how to remove it yourself, and how to ask us to erase it.
1 What Facebook and Instagram Data We Store
Connecting an account lets us store the following, and nothing else from Meta:
-
Connected account identifiers
The Facebook Page ID or Instagram account ID you connected, the ID of the Facebook or Instagram user who granted access, and the account handle and display name.
-
Access credentials
The OAuth access tokens (and refresh tokens, where the platform issues them) that let us act on your behalf. These are encrypted at rest.
-
Published and scheduled post content
The captions, links and scheduling times of posts you create in Social Sync Agency, plus a record of each delivery to each connected account and the ID and permalink Meta returned for it.
-
Uploaded media
Images and video you upload to a brand for publishing, and the resized versions we generate for each platform.
-
Engagement data
Comments, mentions and messages that Meta returns for your connected accounts, including the commenter's display name and public profile ID, so you can read and reply to them in your inbox.
-
Account insights and metrics
View, like and comment counts and other performance figures Meta reports for the posts we published, together with the time we last synced them.
2 Method 1 — Do It Yourself In The App
Signed in to Social Sync Agency, you can sever a connection and remove your workspaces at any time. Read section 3 first: disconnecting is not the same as erasing, and only one of the steps below removes the stored data outright.
Disconnect an Instagram or Facebook account
- Sign in and open Brands in the left-hand sidebar.
- Select the brand the account is connected to.
- In the Channels card, find the Instagram or Facebook row.
- Click the trash icon on that row and confirm “Disconnect this channel?”
Delete a brand
- Open Clients in the left-hand sidebar.
- Select the client the brand belongs to.
- On the brand’s card, click the trash icon and confirm “Delete this brand?”
Delete a workspace (team)
- Open Settings → Teams.
- Select the workspace you want to remove.
- Click Delete team, type the workspace name to confirm, and submit.
Delete your Social Sync Agency account
- Open Settings → Profile.
- Scroll to Delete account and click it.
- Enter your password to confirm, then click Delete account.
3 Disconnecting vs. Deleting — What Actually Gets Erased
We want to be precise about this rather than reassuring. Disconnecting an account, deleting a brand and deleting a workspace all deactivate the records: they stop all publishing and syncing and remove the data from your workspace, but the underlying rows are retained so that reconnecting the same account restores your history instead of orphaning it.
Disconnect / delete a brand or workspace
- Publishing and syncing stop immediately
- The account disappears from your workspace
- No further data is requested from Meta
- Stored data is deactivated, not erased
Delete your account, or send a deletion request
- Access tokens and credentials are destroyed
- Connected account identifiers are erased
- Comments, mentions and messages are erased
- Publishing records, permalinks and metrics are erased
4 Method 2 — Ask Us To Delete It
You can ask us to erase your Meta-sourced data at any time, whether or not you still have an account. Email privacy@socialsyncagency.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and include:
- The email address on your Social Sync Agency account.
- The Facebook Page name or Instagram handle you want removed, or a note that you want everything removed.
- Confirmation that you own or administer that account, so we can verify the request before acting on it.
5 Revoking Access From Facebook
Removing Social Sync Agency in Facebook Settings → Business Integrations also severs our access: Meta invalidates our tokens and notifies our servers, and we immediately drop the stored credentials and mark the connection revoked. No further data is requested from Meta from that moment on.
Revoking on its own deactivates rather than erases the data we already hold, in the same way an in-app disconnect does. To have it purged, choose “Delete the app and all associated activity” when Facebook offers it — Meta then sends us a data deletion request, which we process automatically — or email us using Method 2.
6 Retention After a Deletion Request
- Access tokens and credentials are destroyed as soon as the request is processed, which is normally within minutes of us receiving it.
- Account identifiers, engagement data, publishing records and metrics are erased from our live systems within 30 days of a verified request.
- Encrypted backups are not edited in place. Copies may persist in backups after your live data is gone; those backups are overwritten on their own rotation cycle and age out within 90 days. They are never used to restore deleted data to your workspace.
- We may retain the minimum records needed to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations, such as billing history. These contain no Facebook or Instagram data.
